What is a Draper Head?

One of the great moments of excitement for my boys this harvest was the “draper head”…001

If you ask our youngest what he wants for Christmas he will tell you he wants a “draper head” for his combine.   If you were playing Santa…would you know what he wants?

Our little boys like to tell people about the exciting event of using a draper head for a day on our combine and most people just nod their heads in bewilderment. So let me give you the farm wife/mom download on the “draper head”…

A draper head is a bean header for a combine that has a “conveyor belt” rather than an auger to pull the beans into the combine.

Here is picture at Deere.com: 630FD HydraFlex™ Draperhttps://www.deere.com/common/media/images/product/grain_harvesting/combines/630fd/r4d042027_630fd_642x462.png

So we don’t actually use a draper head on our combine…but the excitement of trying one out for the day was a major event for our boys!
