faith, family, and farming

Today on the farm…

This is happening today…

And since it just seemed like good old farm fun, thought I would share it in real time…meaning it is still in process outside as I type. (well, not anymore since I didn’t get it posted in time.

So we have this empty (or so we thought) cistern…that has never been opened.

Today it was opened for the first time since this farm has been in our family.  It was full of water, which was pumped out with a hose (I wish I got pictures of that…imagine a large hose with lots of water spraying out).  This hole is huge with pipes coming in, probably from the gutters of long ago to collect rain water.

Anyway…after that Doug, Daryl, our hired hand and lots of helpers (of the smaller variety) filled it up with gravel.  So many new adventures as we live this farm life!
